Maya Elias, CIT, Certified Nutrition Coach
is Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s student at Johns Hopkins University. She uses empathy and humility to provide clients a space to honestly express themselves. Maya’s unique academic background in Psychology, Political Science, and History encourages her narrative and somatic approaches. She values recognizing the environmental, emotional, and physical characteristics of oppression and complex trauma. While manifestations of trauma can look like PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety, eating disorders, OCD, and other forms, Maya also believes that any reaction to trauma is valid and significant, regardless of a diagnosis.
In her experience as Personal Strength Trainer, she has helped clients create sustainable, individualized wellness plans, promoted self-assurance and confidence, and has helped clients improve emotional dysregulation around eating and body image. She has coached individuals of many cultural backgrounds, identities, those with histories of chronic or serious illness, and prioritizes creating a safe space for everyone she meets. Maya’s goal is to help individuals develop trust in themselves, resilience, and self-compassion.
